Transgenic improvements of stress tolerance in plants

Plant productivity is greatly influenced by abiotic stresses, such as drought, salinity and low temperature etc. Introduced foreign target genes has been a new way to improve the stress tolerance in crops. Up to date, the transgenes used in improving stress tolerance in plants include the genes encoding superoxide scavenging enzymes, membrane modifying enzymes, stress induced protein and osmolyte producing enzymes.
