Molar enthalpies of formation and vaporization of t-butoxybutanes and thermodynamics of their synthesis from a butanol and 2-methylpropene: 2. Enthalpies of combustion and vaporization of t-butoxybutanes

1991
Enthalpies of vaporization and combustion of 1- t -butoxybutane (I), 2-methyl-1- t -butoxypropane (II) and 1-methyl-1- t -butoxypropane (III), have been determined calorimetrically. These values along with those from a previous equilibrium study of the synthesis of ethers from the corresponding alkanols and 2-methylpropene ( J. Chem. Thermodynamics 1991, 23, 141) yielded: Δ vap H o m values of (42.33±0.25) kJ·mol −1 , (40.12±0.13) kJ·mol −1 , −(368.5±3.4) kJ·mol −1 , and −(379.2+4.1) kJ·mol −1 for I, II, and III, respectively, in the ideal-gas state.
