Potential toxicity of an insecticide of the family of carbamates on a bioindicatormodel of the pollution the earthworm Octodrilus complanatus(Oligochaeta, Lumbricidae)

2012
In our study, we examined the effect of an insecticide the methomyl which belongs to the family of carbamates on a bioindicator of the pollution earthworm Octodrilus complanatus (Oligochaeta, Lumbricidae) through the follow-up of certain biomarkers (GSH, GST , CAT, MDA). Our results highlight a modification of the metabolism of earthworms Octodrilus complanatus through an increase of the content total proteins. A disturbance of the rate of glutathione reduces GSH associated with increased of the activation glutathione S-transferase (GST). At the same time we noted an increase of the catalase activity (CAT) and of the rate of MDA after an exposure of earthworms to the methomyl.
