Design and optimization of LTCC digital demodulator used for aerospace satellite applications

The aim of this paper is the complete design and the performance study of a digital demodulator used for aerospace satellite applications and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology. The digital device is simulated and optimized by means of three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation and an accurate prediction in terms of signal integrity (SI) and EMI is achieved. The inductive effect due to bond wires on the S-parameters is then evaluated and the case in which the bond wires are replaced with bond strips is also studied.
