Charging Station Planning Considering User’s Travel Characteristics and Construction of Distribution Network Lines

With an increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs), the planning model to optimally determine the location and capacity of charging stations (CSs) has become more and more important. This paper develops a novel planning model considering user’s travel characteristics and construction of distribution network lines. Firstly, the coupling interaction between charging network, EV users, transportation network and distribution network is analyzed. Secondly, a CSs planning model with the goal of minimizing the annual cost of the whole society is established. In addition, a WS small world particle swarm optimization (WSPSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the model, which realizes information interaction based on WS small world network topology and increases the global optimization ability and optimization efficiency. Finally, the proposed model and algorithm are demonstrated and verified by a given example, which offers a perspective for effectively realizing optimal planning of charging stations.
