System and method for writing MAC (media access control) address

A system for writing MAC addresses comprises network equipment and an MAC address server for storing and distributing MAC addresses, wherein the network equipment includes an MAC address reading module, a clock module, an MAC address generation module, and a network module; the MAC address reading module is used for determining whether the network equipment has an MAC addresses, if no, the clock module is needed to transmit the current time; the clock module is used for transmitting the current time to the MAC address generation module according to the MAC address determination result; the MAC address generation module is used for receiving the current time from the clock module and generating an MAC address; the network module is used for sending a request to the MAC address server to acquire the MAC address by use of the MAC address generated according to the current time; and the MAC address server is used for transmitting the MAC address to the network equipment after determining that the MAC address request is legal. By using the current time as the MAC address instead of a fixed MAC address to request for the MAC address, the system can reduce the working procedures and improve the production efficiency.
