Use of Octadecylamine for Shutdown Protection at Power Plants

2008
Shutdown protection for power plants was effectively carried out using octadecylamine (ODA). During ODA treatment, there was no great change in pH and water and vapor conductivity. After treatment, economizer, water wall, and superheater tubes showed black or dark grey inner surface morphologies. Impedance spectroscopy indicated that the corrosion resistance of ODA-treated tubes was higher than those without ODA treatment.
