Abstract The purpose of this work is to study the application of reliability analysis in pressure vessel technology. Analysis for life extension of a chemical pressure vessel, the weld qualification assessment in fatigue reliability analysis in a nuclear pressure vessel and an expert system for the assessment of fatigue damage in structures with welded defects are presented.
