The clinical results of surgical treatment of small corneal perforation.

Objective To evaluate the clinical results of surgery in the treatment of small corneal perforation retrospectively.Methods The study included 12 cases,13 eyes totally.Penetrating keratoplasty(PKP),hetero-corneal remedy and amniotic membrance transplantation(AMT) was performed.Results The average follow-up was 10.9 months(ranging 2-23 months).At the last visit,2 eyes had correct visual acuity lower than 0.1,5 eyes 0.1-0.4 and 6 eyes better than 0.5.12 eyes had visual acuity improved postoperatively.After PKP the grafts remained clear,2 eyes treated with AMT healed.The complictions include transient high intraocular pressure(4 eyes)and graft opacity 9(8 eyes,all undergoing hetero-corneal remedy).Conclusion PKP is suitable for small corneal perforation involved central area.Hetero-corneal remedy or AMT may be a good choice for decentered perforation.
