Prototype System Integration

LL modern commercial CT scanners are based on the third-generation architecture: X-rays are emitted from a single X-ray focal spot onto a large arc-shaped detector. Likewise, dual-source CT scanners use essentially the same architecture but with (almost) duplicated X-ray tubes and detectors. We have recently developed a new distributed source technology (Fig. 1.), enabling a multi-source inverse geometry CT (IGCT) architecture [1-5]. Fig. 2 shows the reconstructed image of a rotating phantom acquired with stationary gantry. The stationary gantry with off-gantry source controls and vacuum subsystems is shown in Fig. 3. We now present the first results from a rotating gantry and stationary phantom, as well as system integration
