Field comparison of seismic sources for coal exploration

Choosing a seismic source can be a pivotal decision for a shallow-reflection survey. To assist investigators in selecting the optimum seismic sourse for particular applications, geologic conditions and site logistics, a representative group of courses needs to be compared in a variety of settings with consistent testing procedures and equipment. The selection should be based in the following criteria: adequate energy to reach the desired depth; broad frequency content in order to obtain the required resolution; safety,accesibility and cost. The performance of the sourse has been proved (Miller et all 1986, Miller et all 1992, Miller et all 1992) different in various study areas.t is therefore useful to contuct a quantitative comparative study of seismic sources in the particular enviroment of the survey.
