Intercalation of Bismuth Chalcogenides with Molecular Fluorine

2002
The intercalation of molecular fluorine into Bi2X3(X = S, Se, Te) was studied by x-ray diffraction, mass spectrometry, and thermogravimetry. The results show that, depending on fluorination conditions, the process yields either chalcogenide intercalation compounds, or substitutional intercalation compounds, or complex host–guest structures. The diffusion coefficient of Li in the intercalation compounds and their physical properties are shown to be strongly correlated with fluorine content.
