Lithium nitride (Li3N): heat capacity from 5 to 350 K and thermochemical properties to 1086 K☆

1978
Abstract The heat capacity of a well characterized sample of lithium nitride, Li 3 N, was determined between 5 and 350 K. The following results were obtained from these measurements: C p o (298.15 K) = (75.25 ± 0.15) J K −1 mol −1 , S o (298.15 K) = (62.59 ± 0.13) J K −1 mol −1 , { H o (298.15 K) − H o (0)} = (11.213 ± 22) J mol −1 , and {G o (298.15 K) − H o (0)} 298.15 K = −(24.99 ± 0.05) J K −1 mol −1 . Recommended values of the standard entropy of formation ΔS f o (Li 3 N, c, 298.15 K), the standard enthalpy of formation ΔH f o (Li 3 N, c, 298.15 K), and the standard Gibbs energy of formation, ΔG f o (Li 3 N, c, 298.15 K) are −(120.46 ± 0.54) J K −1 mol −1 , −(164.56 ± 1.09) kJ mol −1 , and −(128.64 ± 1.10) kJ mol −1 , respectively; tabular values of these functions of Li 3 N are given at selected temperatures up to its melting temperature, 1086 K.
