A potent tyrosine kinase inhibitor, lavendustin A, has been isolated from a butyl acetate extract of Streptomyces griseolavendus culture filtrate. It inhibits epidermal growth factor receptor-associated tyrosine kinase. It does not inhibit protein kinase A or C
