Ability of a new oral nicotine substitute to reduce smoking urge in moderate smokers

Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a new nicotine lozenge ( Nicopass® 1.5mg) in reducing smoking urge after an overnight abstinence. Twenty-four moderate smokers participated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 2-period crossover trial. The results showed that 1.5 mg-nicotine lozenge is superior to placebo in reducing smoking urge ( p  = 0.0001).
