Advanced Ionospheric Modelling for GNSS Single Frequency Users

2006
The NeQuick model is an ionospheric model suitable to be adapted for single frequency users to compute ionospheric corrections. The aim of this study is to show, through the comparison of TEC (Total Electron Content) values, the difference in performance between the revisited ionospheric NeQuick model and TEC values provided by external TEC sources. These comparisons will be used, with the aid of several specific approaches, to determine the most suitable implementation of the NeQuick algorithms for real time navigation purposes. The external and independent sources of TEC data to which the comparisons will be performed against are obtained from altimetric satellites (e.g. TOPEX/Poseidon) that provide direct measurements of TEC.
