An effective stimulus for evoking gustatory brain potentials

1992
To date the chemical sense of taste has received the least attention from evoked potential (EP) workers. Some of the stimulus systems used in previous attempts to record gustatory evoked potentials (GEP's) violated the requirements for an effective stimulus while others proved complicated to use. This paper reports a new method where for the first time continuous DC current stimuli were used to elicit GEP's in man. The conditions for an effective stimulus are fulfilled by this technique.
