Simulation of residual voltage characteristics of MOV resistor under exponential wave impulse current

The P-G simulation model is introduced, and the impulse withstand characteristics of 500kV varistors with different number of varistors are simulated by ATP-EMTP simulation software. The lightning current with waveform of 8/20μs and amplitude of 5kA, 10kA and 20kA is used to simulate the impulse. The result show that the large residual voltage dielectric constant is obtained between 15.73kV and 16.26kV, and the single impact energy is between 26.12kJ and 26.4kJ. The residual voltage deviation is both less than 1.8%.
