Introduction: Patient satisfaction is an important indicator of the quality of health services provided in hospitals and is the main starting-axis assurance programs and improving the quality of care. It is also a fundamental issue for the proper organization, management and effectiveness of public hospitals with health, economic and social benefits and so it is necessary and inevitable. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the degree of satisfaction and to explore the views of inpatient health services provided in Paphos General Hospital and the identification of possible factors influencing positively or negatively their satisfaction. Samples and Methods: The study’s sample were 150 patients who were hospitalized in this hospital and were discharged between the dates of March 10th and April 12th 2014. The response rate of the participants was 88.2%. During the discharge of patients, if they meet with the selection criteria, receives the special anonymous questionnaire to complete. Participation in the survey was voluntary and patients were informed about the purpose and consented. The questionnaire which is used was weighed and put into Greece and Poland and Cyprus in three surveys to measure the satisfaction of hospitalized patients in public hospitals in Cyprus. For statistical analysis of the results, the statistical program SPSS v20 was used. Results: The vast majority of patients (91.3%) express high satisfaction with the overall, nursing and medical care. The expectations of the health care provided large numbers of patients (97.2%) were vindicated. The majority of patients (80.8%) to assess the overall quality of health care offered. No statistically significant difference was detected as regards the overall satisfaction in relation to part (chamber) hospitalization (p> 0.05), but neither found a statistically significant relationship between socio-demographic characteristics of patients and satisfaction (p> 0.05). Instead, the place of residence appear to affect the degree of satisfaction (p <0.05). Conclusions: These findings are fully documented the satisfaction of hospitalized patients from the health services in Paphos General Hospital during the above period. The high rates of patient satisfaction are common in Cyprus and internationally. Patients give more XVII importance to communication and interpersonal dimension of care. The necessity of such research is indisputable.
