Vp/Vs Estimation From Post-stack P- And PS-wave Data

2010
Vp/Vs is an attribute widely used in reservoir characterization. The use of multicomponent seismic data, in this case Pand PS-wave data, can be used to robustly estimate longand short-wavelength Vp/Vs volumes. A simple approximation combining Pand registered PSwave post-stack data was used to estimate the Vp/Vs reflectivities of the subsurface, offering a correlation coefficient of 72% between the estimated Vp/Vs reflectivity traces and the Vp/Vs reflectivity calculated from a well log. This approach combined with seismic inversion resulted in an accurate estimation of a broadband Vp/Vs section.
