Serotonin 5-HT2C receptors in the ventral subiculum regulate cocaine-evoked hyperactivity in rats

2015
of the vSUB. Rats with the viral-mediated knockdown of the 5HT2CR in thevSUBexhibited reduced cocaineevokedhyperactivity compared to control rats (p<0.05). No significant differences were observed in the basal locomotor activity between groups. Conclusions: The co-localization of 5-HT2CRand GAD 67-IR was observed in only a small number of vSUB cells and we are currently analyzing colocalization inglutamateneurons. The reduction in cocaine-evoked hyperactivity after knockdown of vSUB 5-HT2CR may reflect changes in output of the vSUB to other regions in the limbic-corticostriatal circuit known to mediate cocaineevoked hyperactivity.
