GENETIC ANALYSIS OF GREEN FRUIT YIELD AND ITS COMPONENT IN CHILLI (CAPS/ CUMANNUUM L. VAR. LONGUM)

2003
Summary Though all the characters except number of fruits per plant were largely influenced by specific combining ability variance, average degree of dominance revealed thdt those were predominating controlled by additive genes effect. The p,uents ACS 97-1,ACS 98-9, Be 14-2, Punjab Guchhedar and RHRC-l6-S were identified as good general combiners for green fruit yield and important yield contributing component characters. The hybrids ACS 97-1 x SG-5, ACS-97- 1 x Resham Patti and ACS 98-9 x Balochpur depicted significant sea effects for green fruit yield and other yield contributing attributes alongwith higher estimates of heterobeltiosis. The pedigree and 550 bulk selection are suggested, selection may be delayed to dilute dominance effect. Heterosis breeding with use of GM5 lines would production cost of hybrid seeds. fiJ-.:l i\ "5lfu !'llfcrn it , ~ >!'llfcrn ~ -.no m i ffi 't'! ~~ ofR ~~ mil fi1\!
