Development Situation and Perspectives on Chitin and Chitosan from Insects

The development situations of chitin and chitosan from Dendrolimus spp.,larva of housefly,pupae of silkworm and tussor,Tenebrio molitor,cicada and Kronopolites svenhedini were reviewed.Perspectives on the development of chitin or chitosan from insects were discussed,and it was pointed out that it was necessary and important to develop the chitin or chitosan from insects not only because the chitosan resource was in short supply in China,but also because the development of insect-foods would promote the research and development of insect chitosan-based foods.
