O ensino comunicativo de pronúncia nas aulas de inglês (L2) para aprendizes brasileiros: análise de um livro didático

2012
This study aims to verify how an EFL coursebook  approaches the teaching of the phonetic-phonological aspects of the target language in communicative classroom activities. In order to reach this goal, we analyze not only if the pronunciation activities proposed in the book aim to build a communicative environment, but also whether the phonetic-phonological aspects covered throughout the coursebook prove relevant to Brazilian learners of English. The results obtained suggest that the coursebook analyzed presents a wide variety of communicative pronunciation activities. However, given the fact that this material is not aimed solely to Brazilian learners of English, it does not entirely fulfill the necessities shown by learners whose L1 is Brazilian Portuguese. This considered, teachers play a very important role in both selecting and adapting the activities  that best suit their learners’ needs.
