Multiple Evanescent White Dot Syndrome-A Report of Three Cases

1989
Three patients had fundus changes characterized of those of the newly described multiple evanescent white dot (MEWD) syndrome. All three patients were unilaterally affected with characteristic small, white dots at the level of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) or deep retina. Fluorescein angiography showed early hyperfluorescence and late staining of the white dots, and delayed staining around the optic disc. In one patient, macular granularity appeared rapidly. Electroretinographic studies performed in all three patients demonstrated reduction in a-wave amplitude. All patients had good recovery of visual acuity with eventual fading of the white dots.
