Diffusion Characteristics of Water in the Vicinity of Single-Nano Buckydiamond as Revealed by Quasi-Elastic Neutron Scattering

The diffusion characteristics of stable aqueous dispersion of nanodiamonds (concentration 80 mg/ml, average particle size 8 nm) were investigated by quasi-elastic neutron scattering. Hydration water in the vicinity of SNBD was estimated about 3%. Its diffusion characteristics showed strong deterioration of molecular mobility and increasing the residence lifetime of molecules in comparison with those of bulk water.
