Reevaluation of Bacitracin as a Spore Coat Component

Abstract Analysis of hydrolysates of highly purified spore coats revealed only small quantities of ornithine, a component of bacitracin. We conclude that the peptide, bacitracin, is not a significant component of spore coats.
