MICRO-BASED EXPERT COMPUTER AIDED PROCESS PLANNING SYSTEM (MICRO-CAPP) FOR TURNING PARTS

ABSTRACT A MICRO-CAPP System has been developed for computer-aided process planning which will be a knowledge-based expert system for turning parts to improve productivity and profitability. Given the ductile work material and the surface finish, the system will select the best carbide insert for taming process based on minimum cost or maximum production rate. The system will then compute the material removal rate, machining time, power consumption and recommend suitable processing machine based on the optiinized operating parameters. The result of this research is based on generative process planning, accessing the best knowledge obtainable using the rule set and mathematical model for cutting parameters selection.
