Magnetic properties of super sendust films

1982
The magnetic thin films with large saturation flux densities have been studied. Super Sendust films were prepared using conventional rf sputtering techniques from a quaternary alloy that consisted of Si: 6wt%, Al: 4wt%, Ni: 3wt% and Fe: bal. The saturation flux densities of the films were 14,000 Gauss, which is higher than that of Sendust films which are 11,000 Gauss. The value of effective permeability was about 1,000 and its frequency response is flat up to 15MHz. The electric resistivity and Vickers hardness of films are higher than that of the bulk alloy. Furthermore, the films are stable since the saturation flux density does not decrease after annealing at 350°C for sixteen hours in air.
