Isospin conservation in the reactions /sup 16/O(p,t)/sup 14/O(g. s. ) and /sup 16/O(p,/sup 3/He)/sup 14/N(2. 31 MeV)

Differential cross section measurements are given for the isospin related reaction channels /sup 16/O(p,t)/sup 14/O(g.s.) and /sup 16/O(p,/sup 3/He)/sup 14/N(2.31 MeV) for several proton energies near 29 MeV. The isospin mixture of the exit channel changes significantly with small changes in bombarding energy. Distorted-wave Born approximation calculations reproduce the changes reasonably well. Calculations show, however, that compound nuclear contributions might be large.
