Plasma Profiling Mass Spectrometry (PPMS)

Die Plasma Profiling Mass Spectrometry (PPMS) ist eine neue Methode zur Charakterisierung von Oberflachen und Schichten. Dank der RF-Anregung der abtragenden Glimmlampe konnen sowohl leitende als auch nicht leitende Materialien analysiert werden. Durch der Kopplung mit der Flugzeitmassenspektrometrie wird das gesamte Massenspektrum simultan erfasst. Sie liefert damit Element-, Isotopen- und im Fall von organischen Schichten auch wertvolle Molekulinformationen. Retroperspektivische Analysen sind jederzeit moglich. Durch die Trennung des Flugzeitmassenspektrometers von der abtragenden Quelle kann ein Probenwechsel innerhalb von wenigen Minuten durchgefuhrt werden. In Abhangigkeit von den Materialeigenschaften erfolgt die Analyse der Schichten innerhalb von Sekunden bis Minuten. Damit eignet sich diese Methode nicht nur fur viele Fragestellungen im Oberflachenlabor, sondern auch sehr gut zur produktionsbegleitenden Kontrolle in der Industrie. Thanks to the RF excitation of the GD source it is possible to analyze conductive and non conductive samples. With a coupling of a time of flight mass spectrometer the acquisition of the complete mass spectrum is simultaneously. Therefore, this method provides elemental, isotopic and in the case of organic layer also molecular information. Retro perspective analysis are always possible. Through the separation of the mass spectrometer and the sputtering GD source the change of a sample takes only a few minutes. Depending of the material the analysis time is in the range of a few seconds up to several minutes. Therefore, this new method is ideal not only for surface labs but also for the control of the production in industry application.
