Rock Model Corrected S-wave Velocity Prediction - Example from the Norwegian Sea

Summary We demonstrate a method for S-wave velocity prediction based on a calibrated rock physics model. However, the modelled S-wave velocities are corrected using the relative difference between modelled and measured P-wave velocities. This approach should better honour the geological and structural variations compared to empirical relations. The predicted velocities gave better or equally good match compared to tested empirical models.
