The process of feeding and mixing a increasing temperature on a pipeline

2008
A method for increasing the temperature of a section of a pipe used for production or transport of hydrocarbons. According to one aspect the method comprises (a) forming a treatment fluid comprising (i) a carrier fluid and (ii) a first reactant and a second reactant, and (b) introducing the treatment fluid in a section of pipe used for the production or transport of hydrocarbons. The first reactant and second reactant being selected to be able to react together in an exothermic chemical reaction, said first and second reactant are at least sufficient concentrations in the carrier fluid to form a theoretical heat of reaction of at least 1000 kJ / liter of treatment fluid. At least a portion at least one of first and second reactant is suspended in the carrier fluid in a solid form that is adapted to assist in controlled release of reagent into the carrier fluid. In some embodiments, a catalyst may be included in a suspended form in the carrier fluid.
