An innovative approach to planning, acquisition and processing of an intermediate walkway VSP in a UK central graben North Sea well

This paper describes the planning, acquisition and processing of a walkaway VSP acquired at an intermediate depth prior to reaching TD in a high pressure, high temperature well in the Central North Sea. VSP's, like any seismic survey, require proper planning with a set of clear objectives defined. In this case, pre-survey planning was used to ensure that adequate seismic coverage could be achieved over the target zone and so helped to finalise the programme parameters.
