ICT for Good Governance: Evidence from Development Perspective

This paper examines the prospects of using ICT tool for promoting governance. In the development context, democratization plays a significant role, and government and people should entrench and deepen the democracy through the active participation, planning, monitoring and evaluation for which ICTs can be used effectively. The paper also explains how better service delivery to citizens is happening through ICT. How transparency and accountability is ensured along with empowerment of people through information is captured in this paper. Analysis to improve the efficiency within the government is also discussed in brief. Decentralization and constitution of local governance effort in India have made the governance closer to people. The interface between the government and people can be made much closer, and the bridge can be built with the help of ICT tools. Two programmes of Government of India have been taken for analysis, i.e. POSHAN Abhiyan and Mission Antyodaya.
