GW24-e0510 Assessment Of Right Ventricular Function by Automated Tissue Motion Tracking of Tricuspid Annular Displacement before and after Transcatheter Closure in Patients with Atrial Septal Defect

Objectives To evaluate the change of right ventricular function with tricuspid annular displacement (TAD) measured by tissue motion annular displacement (TMAD) before and after transcatheter closure in patients with atrial septal defect (ASD). Methods Twenty-five patients undermented transcatheter closure of ASD were enrolled in this study. The inner diameter of right atrium (RA), right ventricular (RV) and main pulmonary artery (MPA) were measured before and 3 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months after transcatheter closure of ASD by echocardiography in all patients. The TAD of different period at right ventricular free wall, septum and the mid-point (recorded as T1, T2, Tm) were measured by TMAD technique and compared. Results The RA, RV and MPA of the different periods after closure were decreased gradually compared with that before closure of ASD (from 43.76 ± 5.07 mm to 32.76 ± 3.02 mm, 35.32 ± 5.87 mm to 22.32 ± 2.25 mm and 26.24 ± 4.74 mm to 19.20 ± 1.58 mm, respectively, P < 0.05). T1 and Tm of the different periods after closure increased gradually compared with that before closure of ASD (from 14.34 ± 3.61 mm to 25.60 ± 3.78 mm, 12.29 ± 3.07 mm to 21.30 ± 2.63 mm, respectively, P < 0.05). Conclusions Transcatheter closure of ASD improves the geometry structure of right heart and the right ventricular function in all patients with ASD.
