A stereochemical approach that demonstrates the effect of solvent on the growth of polar crystals : A perspective

2006
The effect of solvent on the growth of hemihedral faces of polar crystals is reviewed. Ample evidence is provided that differences in solvent binding at opposite hemihedral faces is a primary factor leading to differences in their growth rates; in general, the stronger the solvent−surface interaction, the more pronounced the growth inhibition.
