Actualităţi în farmacoterapia glaucomului

2019
Glaucoma often requires an individualized treatment, combining pharmacotherapy (topical and sometimes systemic), with laser treatment and surgery. Prostaglandin analogues, beta‑blockers and adrenergic agonists are still the gold standard in glaucoma therapy, as single agents or combined. The modern therapy of glaucoma involves combinations of drugs with neuroprotectors of the optic nerve, Rho kinase inhibitors, vasopressin receptors agonists, monoclonal antibodies, agonists of adenosine receptors, and serotoninergic drugs. A modern trend in glaucoma treatment highlights new technologies using stem cells and gene therapy: thus, the administration of genes, gene ablation and stem cell transplant are promising approaches in the management of glaucoma.
