Phacoemulsification through Pupilary Circular Posterior Synechia

2005
Objective To discuss the intraoperative techniques and outcome of phacoemulsification through papillary circular synechia. Methods The surgery was performed by using non-cut pupil dilation and phacoemulsification on 105 eyes of 101 patients with papillary circular synechia. The visual acuity, pupil and postoperative complication were observed. Results Three months after sugery, the corrected visual acuity was≥0.6 in 85 eyes(81%).A round pupil was obtained in 90(85.7%) cases and irregular pupil was obtained in 15(14.3%) cases. No sever complications were found. Conclusion Successful phacoemulsification was done with non-cut pupil dilation. After surgery ,the most pupil can be recovered to normal and no unfavorable reaction is seen.
