Aromatic monomer gas generating agent for overcharging protection in nonaqueous lithium battery

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery capable of surely operating an electricity breaking device arranged in the battery when the pressure is increased by overcharging. SOLUTION: An internal electricity breaking device for protecting the abuse of overcharging in a nonaqueous rechargeable lithium battery is surely operated by adding a monomer additive suitable for an electrolyte, and generating gas by the electrochemical polymerization proceeding when overcharging voltage is abnormally increased. As the monomer additive, an aromatic compound such as biphenyl suitable for a LiCoO 2 family lithium ion battery is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
