Ultra-Lightweight Cenospheres Cement for Lost Circulation Control with Improved Curing and Reduced Shrinkage

The induction of fractures in the formation due to higher cement slurry density is a time and capital consuming affair. Lightweight cement has been used over the years, but such practices have a limitation of poor compressive strength, shrinkage due to reduced hydration of cement slurries. The present work deals with cenosphere-based ultra-lightweight cement (lighter than water) with improved hydration caused by cenosphere and dead burnt magnesia. The performance of the cement slurry was evaluated based on the consistency of cement, rheology, contact angle and compressive strength.
