Quasi-Analytical Algorithm Calibration for Retrieval of Inherent Optical Properties from Extremely Turbid Waters: The Case of Madeira River Basin

2019
Extremely turbid water is present in most large river basin of the tropical zone and play a substantial role in global and regional biogeochemical processes. The aim of this work was to calibrate Quasi-Analytical Algorithm to estimate Inherent Optical Properties in the Madeira river basin (MRB), the main tributaries basin in terms of sediment fluxes of the Amazon river basin. A calibration was proposed using a dataset that contain hyperespectral remote sensing reflectance, absorption coefficient and suspended sediment concentration. The calibrated model based on λ 0 = 550 nm derived IOPs with limitations in SSC more than 500 mg.l-1. The validation shown an R² = 0,85 and Bias = -1,00 to absorption coefficient in blue wavelength.
