The Advantage of Cascading Deterministic Inversion and Pre-Stack Stochastic Inversion for Deep Water Thinly Bedded Reservoirs Characterization

Thinly bedded reservoir pay zones that are commonly deposited in deep water turbidite environment in offshore Sabah area, Malaysia, tend to be inadequately characterized by conventional seismic and logging techniques. Additionally, these pay zones are often overlooked during formation evaluation and even left unexploited as they are finer in resolution (temporal and spatial) than it can be detected by conventional open-hole logs.
