Development of HILS System for Testing Embedded System of the BCU for HEV

2008
Regenerative braking is a core technology to reduce the energy consumption in hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). Accordingly, properly optimized control strategy is needed to maximize the efficiency of regenerative braking and ensure the stability of motor and battery. In this paper, brake control logic was modeled by MATLAB/Simulink. And the hardware-in-the-loop-simulation (HILS) system is constructed for verifying the brake control unit (BCU) logic. The BCU logic is implanted on the embedded system operated a micro processor unit (MPU), MPC-556 and the HEV model constructed also with MATLAB/Simulink is loaded on the real-time simulation environment. By communicating between the BCU and the HEV model a HILS system is completed ad HIL simulation is performed.
