Outcome Measures of Multidisciplinary Teams Approach in stroke Patients

BACKGROUND: A stroke is a neurological abnormality due to vascular lesion in the brain. It is commonest cause of death all over the world. A serious disease because of its after effects; People who survive from this disease may be dependent upon others for life time due to after effects and disabilities of stroke which is very pathetic situation. Mostly people are unaware of the useful effects of team work. In stroke rehabilitation team work or multidisciplinary team approach can improve the patient’s health status and survival rate. It ensures the better life style of the patients.
OBJECTIVES: This study was supposed to provide awareness and benefits of The Multidisciplinary Team Approach in stroke patients. This could help the patients, family members and care giver. It improves the patient’s health as well as improves the social status of patient.
METHODOLOGY: Observational cross sectional study was conducted in Syed Medical Complex Hospital Sialkot and was compiled in Riphah International University Lahore. Study was done in 4 months after approval of synopsis, non-probability, purposive sampling was chosen and sample size was calculated by epi calculator that is 30 the response rate is 100%.
RESULT: Repeated measure ANOVA is applied in FIMFAM scale: Total score at the time of admission, discharge and follow up was calculated. Mean difference of admission and discharge was 35.200 p value was 0.000, Mean difference discharge and fallow up was 49.133 and p value was 0.000, Mean difference admission to fallow up= 84.333 and p value =0.000. Result show significance improvement from the time period between the day of admission to the day of discharge and the time period between the days of admission to the day of fallow up.
CONCULSION: Multidisciplinary team approach in a stroke patients have significance improvement in their motor , sensory and cognition hence improve overall health status as well as decrease the death rate.
