Effect of Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor and Insulin-like Growth Facfor-1 on the Proliferation of Rat Ectoroesenchymal Stem Cells

2003
Objective To detect the effect of bFGF and IGF-1 on the proliferation of rat ectomesenchymal stem cells to provide theoretic basis for the further exploration of the mechanisms of craniofacial and tooth development and inductive differentiation of ectomesenchymal stem cells. Methods MTT method was used to examine the proliferation of rat ectomesenchymal stem cells treated with 10ng/ml bFGF and/or 100ng/ml IGF-1 for 4 days. Results After 4 days, the optical density of cells treated with 10ng/ml bFGF inevitably increased( P 0.01) . However, there was no significant difference among IGF-1 and bFGF+ IGF-1 and controls( P 0.05). Conclusion bFGF could increase the proliferation of rat ectomesenchymal stem cells, while bFGF and IGF-1 might be able to promote the differentiation of rat ectomesenchymal stem cells concurrently.
