A large intracardiac thrombus in a child with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome

2013
Intracardiac thrombus is a rare complication of nephrotic syndrome in children, and only a few cases have been reported. We report the case of a 3.5-year-old child diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura and steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome for 2 months. The patient had massive oedema but no cardiovascular instability. Echocardiography displayed a large thrombus within the right atrium and the patient was successfully managed with enoxoparine.
