Method for Flutter Aero-servoelastic Open Loop Analysis

2003
Aero-servoelasticity (ASE) is a multi-disciplinary study of interactions among structural dynamics, unsteady aerodynamics, and control systems. In this paper, the Aircraft Test Model (ATM) developed by the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center is used, and the velocities at which flutter occurs are calculated by use of the Structural Analysis Routines (STARS) aero-servoelastic software. For the validation of our aero-servoelastic study, the STARS aero-servoelastic software, also developed by NASA, is used. We developed a new aero-servoelastic tool in Matlab to consider these interactions, and the results obtained through our method are compared with the ones obtained through STARS.Key words: aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, servo-controls, aero-servoelasticity.
