Developing Training Modules under the SECUR-ED Research Project

2012
Although technology is a primary focus of security, the human resources factor is equally critical. This article discusses a demonstration project that will be conducted in Berlin that will focus on security training for employees. The project is part of the European Union’s Secured Urban Transportation-A European Demonstration (SECUR-ED) program. The training topic is being addressed in two sections: theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, a framework will be devised to prepare all the relevant training, target groups, methods and other necessary preliminary work. Several modules are being prepared on different elements of security such as risk assessment, weapons and tactics of terrorists, and interpersonal communication. In the second part, several of the modules will be tested in Berlin in actual training sessions. This demonstration will provide the opportunity to assess the project content and material.
