Quantitative evaluation of the lamellar kinking&rotation on the flow softening of γ-TiAl-based alloys at elevated temperatures

2021
Abstract The flow curves of lamellar TiAl alloys generally exhibit pronounced flow softening at elevated temperatures, which has been thought to be caused by recrystallization/globularization. However, in this work we quantitatively determined that the lamellar kinking&rotation is the major softening mechanism especially at the initial deformation stage. By using electron microscopy, the kinking&rotation mechanism as well as the resulted softening mechanism were analyzed and discussed.
